life of a working girl
The past week or two has been quite busy and a ton of my time has been spent at my workplace. One day last week, I had my interview AND orientation in the same day. My first work day was Saturday 11 am - 5 pm. I only stayed til 4 pm since people came in early for their shift. Lots of shift changes at 5pm. My first day and it was a lunch rush. It was awfully busy and the first time I checked the clock, it was 2pm. My back started aching a little but I kept busy by looking at the ingredient boards and wiping down the lobby tables. I worked with 2 managers and they are both really cool. After the lunch rush, it wasn't soooo bad. At the end of my shift, the head manager gave me a big hi-five and told me I did great. I also looked at my schedule for the upcoming week: 34 hours and night shifts! Of course, I saw that I would be closing at 2 am some shifts and coming back at 11 am the next day, well really later that day. I do that 2 times in a row this week. 4 days in a row. Those will be my next workdays. I have today off!
After my very first day which I felt good after, I had Sunday and Monday off. Yesterday, I had my 2nd day. The first day was opening shift. The second day was closing shift. I think I like closing better. I'm not sure. This time around, it was waaaaaaaay less busier which I really liked. It was easy, just long. But before I knew it, I started doing all the pre-close stuff. It was the main manager, a cook and I. There were also a ton of nice people that were friendly and had conversations with. I also think I need to talk differently at work. Apparently I have an accent and it really comes out when I'm not paying attention. I was ringing up this young gentleman and I heard him mumbling so I asked what he said and he told me my accent was soo beautiful. It was like he was blushing or getting worked up about it and called me baby. I don't know. It was weird, only because it was late at night. And one other thing I won't mention. But it was pretty damn awesome. Right now, I'm getting paid minimum wage but in 2 months, it'll be $8/hr. I don't know many fast food places that pay more than they have to. The people are great and nice. We all like to talk. My main manager raved about me to a customer that I'm smart and I already graduated high school and starting college in the fall even though I'm only 17. I feel like several people do that when it comes to me. Am I really worth raving about? ;) I'll definitely be having this job for at least a year. I don't know if I will find one better. I am pretty sure I am moving out as well and this will pay the bills long as I get 27 hours a week. Seems like a ton but if I do three 9 hour shifts - like closing Thurs, Fri and Sat... it'd all be done. I'd work another day just to add in some money. Cushion. Then I would have Sunday to sleep in, do work, laundry. I'll have class Monday, Wednesday and I do believe Tuesday/Thursday once I take this CLM... I should be doing that today..
Anyways, I believe Thursdays are paydays. I'd only be getting Saturday and Tuesday's - not much, but it'll go in. Then the bulk of this week and next's, will be making a wave in my bank:) I'm pretty excited. I look at life as a big puzzle and each aspect is a puzzle piece. Either they're in the board, completing the puzzle or missing. Right now, seems like all the pieces are in the right places. Job, friends, probably moving out, college, bf. Yeahhhhh.
